 Biography

 Lesley Craigie 

As a manager of opera singers, teacher and performer, Lesley has a unique and knowledgable understanding of what it takes to succeed in todays extremely competitive world of opera and classical singing.

 

Lesley is a graduate and scholar of the Royal College of Music, London, Royal Scottish Academy of Music (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and The Peabody Institute in Baltimore, she won a plethora of prizes and awards.  She has performed over 15 roles including Nedda (I Pagliacci), Tosca , Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Violetta (La Traviata), Donna Elvira (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Polly Peachum ( Threepenny Opera). She has peformed with prestigous companies such as  Washington Concert Opera, New Jersey Opera Theater, the Baltimore Opera Company, New York Bel Canto Opera Association, Opera Box (Wales), Boheme Opera NJ , Mercury Opera , The Center of Contemporary Opera and the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera both as a soloist and ensemble member. Lesley has sung as a soloist at prestigious venues such as  The Royal Scottish Concert Hall. St John Smith's Square, London , and most recently at the Washington National Cathedral, Capitol Hill, Trinity Wall Street Church and a Messiah at Maryknoll Society. Recording's include Geraldine in  A Hand of Bridge for Naxos with the Scottish National Orchestra under the baton of  Marin Alsop. She has studied and coached with renowned artists and teachers such as Renata Scotto, Dr. John Van Cura, Yvonne Minton, Bill Schuman and Patricia McMahon.

Her passion for helping singers build their careers began her career as a manger as an assistant for Matthew Laifer Artists Management in 2007 for 5 years followed by moving to Piper Anselmi Artists in 2013. From 2017 - 2021  she worked as an artists manager at Piper Artists where she  secured contracts for singers at prestigious venues, including the Metropolitan Opera , Savonlinna Opera Festival, Seattle Opera, New Orleans Opera, Grange Park Opera, Wexford Festival,  Bolshoi Opera, Opera North, Oper Basel, LA Philharmonic, and more.

As a teacher, she has taught at Music Academy International , Amadeus Conservatory of Music and has her own private studio in Westchester, NY. Lesley is a proud member of the National Association of Voice Teachers (NATS) and  has given multiple masterclasses in Manhattan alongside her husband, Filippo Anselmi and has been a guest lecturer at the Peabody Institute's Elderhostel during her time in Baltimore. In 2023 Lesley looks forward to hosting an opera night lecture and performance in conjunction with Rutgers University's Italian Language Department and continuing her research in vocal pedagogy by attending several Estill Voice Training courses.
